Worked Hours Calculator

Enter the four times from your workday to calculate the lunch break time, the total hours worked and the balance against the expected work schedule.

How the calculation works

The calculator uses the four times from your workday — clock in, lunch start, lunch end and clock out — to calculate:

What is the "expected work schedule"?

It's the reference length of your workday — by default, 08:00 (8 hours), but the field is editable for any schedule (6h, 4h, part-time, etc.). The balance is always calculated by comparing the total worked against this value.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does the calculator support overnight shifts (crossing midnight)?

Yes. If a time is chronologically "earlier" than the previous one in the sequence — for example, clock in at 22:00 and clock out at 06:00 — the tool understands that this time belongs to the next day and adds 24 hours to it before calculating. If more than one time appears out of order in a way that doesn't correspond to a single plausible overnight shift, an error is shown instead of an incorrect result.

Do the times need to be in increasing order?

In a regular workday (within the same day), yes: clock in, lunch start, lunch end and clock out must be in increasing order. The only exception is the overnight shift described above, handled automatically.

Does the calculator add up multiple days or keep an hour bank?

No. The calculation is done for a single workday, with no accumulation between days and no data persistence — each calculation is independent.
