A QR Code (Quick Response Code) is a two-dimensional barcode capable of storing text, URLs, contact details and much more. It is read by phone cameras and dedicated readers. The information is encoded in the black and white squares (modules); the three large squares in the corners are the finder patterns, which help the reader locate and orient the code.
Every QR Code includes Reed-Solomon error correction: part of the data is redundant, so the code remains readable even if it's partially damaged, dirty or covered. There are four levels:
The higher the correction level, the more redundancy data — and therefore a slightly larger code for the same content.
The code is generated entirely in your browser, with a custom implementation of the QR algorithm (byte-mode encoding with UTF-8, Reed-Solomon error correction, pattern assembly and automatic selection of the best mask). There are no external libraries or CDN. The QR version (1 to 40) is chosen automatically based on the size of the content.
It depends on the correction level. At level L, a version 40 QR Code holds up to about 2,953 bytes (less for accented characters and emoji, which take up more than one byte in UTF-8). If the text doesn't fit, the tool warns you and suggests shortening it or using a lower correction level.
Yes. The "Download PNG" button exports the image generated in the <canvas>
as a PNG file, with a clear margin (quiet zone) around it, essential for readability.
Yes, indirectly: just paste the text in the format readers understand — for example,
WIFI:T:WPA;S:NetworkName;P:password;; for Wi-Fi. The tool generates the QR
Code for any text; the meaning is interpreted by the app that scans it.
